Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Plastics Round-Up

Back by popular demand, on May 21st there will be a Plastics Round-up held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, just up a half mile on McBeth from the Spencer Creek Grange. Volunteers will be on hand from 10 AM to 1 PM to greet folks who have saved their plastic containers. Only #2, #4 and #5 tubs, jugs, bottles, lids and beverage handles will be accepted.

To expedite the process and meet the acceptable recycling criteria:

  • Please remove labels & adhesive. Heat stamped labels are acceptable.
  • Containers must be totally cleaned & dry and any soaps or lotions must be rinsed off.
  • Remove any foil & plastic flaps – OK to cut off rims.
  • Have all categories separated when you arrive.
  • Multiple similar jugs: tie handles together.

All volunteers and people dropping off plastic are required to wear a mask and maintain appropriate distancing. Please remember to have things appropriately sorted, cleaned and prepared, prior to arriving. We will also be collecting Pak Tech can holders. Please read this document for Collection Instruction and Tips.

Please allow time to have your collection carefully examined as the requirements are stringent.

Please DO NOT leave any plastic without inspection by our volunteers. Any materials not meeting specs will be dumped, at the expense of the volunteers who are providing this service. Our last round-up was fairly good quality but many yogurt containers partially cleaned, plastic/foil flaps left on rims, and labels left, resulted in extra work and a partial load of trash. Thank you!!
