Dear Board Members,
I thought that was an awesome meeting on Monday morning. I had tried to consider all the possible outcomes of how it would turn out, and while I knew one of them might result in a very positive, energized new direction, I confess it wasn’t the one I expected. Isn’t life a kick? In absence of minutes, I’d like to reiterate what I took away, and I need you to chime in with the details I have forgotten. Once we get these minutes right, I’d like to put them up on the website. Anyone who’d like to rewrite these minutes is welcome, or it can be in my words roughly as follows.
Special Board Mtg. Of Spencer Cr. Community Growers Market on Tuesday January 29 from 10 a.m. – 12:00 at Spencer Creek Grange
Present: Genie and Glenn Harden, Kelly Townsend, Maureen Hudson, Rachel Marcotte, Chris Sherman, Dave Yordy, Andrea Turner, Tessa and Jake McCusker.
Absent: Zoe Shaheen, Carrie Steinbach, Tracy Waterbury, Pam Schmeiding, Michael Neukirchen
Dave took us through various findings of the alternative site committee and described the contacts he made at each venue. Much discussion ensued centered around seeking balance of farmers and customers – will more farmers dilute potential farm income or draw more customers, (or both?).
Maureen made a motion which was seconded and passed unanimously to continue the market at Bailey Hill Market while taking steps to begin a 3rdmarket in the parking lot of the shopping center across from Churchill High School.
Dave and Andrea agreed to take some next steps: Meet with the landowners of the shopping center (again), meet with city and county officials to see how they can support us, (and more?)
A motion was made to elect Maureen as Executive Vice President, making her an official officer who could then be empowered to cosign checks on our account in lieu of a secretary.
